The Procedure
The total canine hip replacement is not without its potential complications, but in the right hands and under the right conditions can yield a success rate of over 95%.

Implants

Implants

BioMedtrix canine total hip implants are manufactured from the same materials and by the same processes as those utilized for human orthopedic device manufacturing. All implants are tested for longevity. BioMedtrix prostheses are implanted using bone cement. This procedure follows the same processes and uses the same bone cement as human hip surgery. Use of bone cement for implant fixation has been used since the early 1960's in human total hip replacement. To date it is still considered the gold standard for good long-term fixation of a component.

Instruments

Instruments

All instruments are manufactured from medical grade stainless steels and plastics. These materials provide durability and allowance for sterilization. The manufactured instruments are held within strict tolerances to ensure that the total hip preparation is prepared precisely and reproducibly.
